Seth back on form with P6 at Whilton
A strong A-Final at Whilton Mill last weekend gifted Seth his second best finishing position of the year after what looked set to be a disappointing day.

This was the first time that Seth had driven a kart since the 24hr Le Mans race in July and was the first time that he had driven a C100 kart since June at Bayford Meadows. It had been a long summer break and you could see that Seth was out of practice in his first heat. He struggled to overtake effectively and was very unhappy with his lap times. ‘I knew this would be difficult having had some time off and having only driven the new track once, but my lap times were dreadful and I was unhappy about only getting 12th in my first heat.’

For his second heat Seth started 3rd and managed to take the lead on the first corner. He pulled out a gap on cold tyres and looked set to win but his lap times were yet slower than the first heat. The pack quickly reeled him in and after a clash with Glen Beard, he could only salvage a 5th place.

For the final heat Seth lined up 13th on the Grid. This was the first time that Seth had looked comfortable all day, and it was brilliant to see him looking himself on track. He managed to move up to 4th in just six laps and his lap times were six tenths quicker than they had been all day - ‘I don’t know if I was just rusty in the morning or whether I was unlucky with the karts but I felt good after that third heat.’

These results qualified Seth 19th in the A-Final and he was full of hope that he could move up the field over the course of the race. It was clear that Seth still possessed the ability to make huge progress in the first lap as by the start of lap 2 he had moved up to 10th position. He then hooked on to the back of championship contender Carl Tebbut and fought his way up to 7th place where he finished. Ashley Davis was penalised after the race promoting Seth to 6th. He was unsurprisingly happy saying ‘That was one of the best races I’ve driven in a while, and I’m coming back in to the front end of the championship on dropped scores. I look forward to Rye House in 2 weeks time.’
