Worthing Promoted After Final Round Thriller
The final round of the 2007 Speedo Swimming League was held at Maidenhead on
Saturday 8th December. With double league points at stake, it was crucial to secure a
top 3 placing in this 8 team gala, to have any chance of promotion.
Worthing raced into 3rd position in the early relays. Then, after some excellent
individual performances, Worthing produced a brilliant team effort in the final relays
to narrowly secure 3rd position after the final race.
This was a fantastic result for the squad, but promotion would now rely on the
positions of the other teams. By the narrowest of margins, of just 2 points on the
evening, Worthing jumped above Littlehampton and Rushmoor Royals B in the final
league table.
Worthing will now compete in the Speedo League Division 1 South West towards the
end of 2008 and are now only 1 league away from the Speedo South Premier
division.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this Speedo league achievement. This was
a fantastic effort to secure 3rd place in each of the 3 Speedo galas. With continued
hard work and dedication in training we WILL maintain Division 1 status in 2008.
