Season ends on damp note
The final round of the 2007 Club100 Lightweight championship at Rye House on 18 November was held in conditions which deteriorated from dry but cold at the start of the afternoon to wet and freezing by the end.

The race also brought Seth's worst Club100 result to date. For only the second time all season he failed to make the A-final, and was forced into a spin on the opening lap of the B-final. He nonetheless finished the season in 15th place in the championship, a creditable performance. Aged 15, he is the youngest of the crop of new young drivers who were permitted to enter the championship this season. He finished the year just 2 slots behind 16 year-old Joshua Hill and several ahead of the promising Andrew Osbourne.

"It was a really disappointing end to the season", said Seth, "especially as the day had started well, with a 4th in the my first heat from 15th on the grid. Then, in the second heat my kart wouldn't fire up and I had to start at the back again, and then in my third heat the engine cut out and stopped on the last corner of the last lap! That put me on grid 4 for the B final, which I was hoping to win....until someone cannoned into me and pushed me off on the first lap. End of story".

Seth's Dad Stephen added: "He showed the pace to finish in the top 10 today but he had more than his share of kart troubles, as sometimes happens. Still, he should be really pleased with his first year in this ultra-competitive category of racing, acquitting himself very well alongside much older and more experienced competitors, winning a couple of heats along the way and practically always qualifying for the A-finals. I think he's going to run near the front next year, and all the character-building disappointments of this season will stand him in good stead"

Seth and Stephen both want to thank JV, Russ, Steve and all at Club100 for running a great LW championship this year, and to congratulate John Pethick, Oliver Allwood and Andrew Smythe (top 3 finishers in the championship) for their success. See you all next year!
