Double Esses 2nd at Buckmore Park
Seth took a break from his Club100 sprint season to take part in a 90 minute Pro-kart race with his father Stephen on 27 October. The team's previous two Club100 races at the beginning of the year had netted a win and a second, and in August the pair had some hectic practice in Pro-karts racing each other at an indoor circuit in Budapest following the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Seth qualified the team on P3 and Stephen stated the race, moving into the lead by lap 3 despite a fierce and sometimes aggressive battle with KTM Racing. Double Esses stayed comfortably in front until lap 22 when Stephen was judged to have overtaken under yellow flags and was called in for a 10 second penalty, dropping them back to 7th. By the 35 minute mark they'd climbed back to 3rd but 50 year-old Stephen was showing signs of tiredness and handed over to son Seth for the remaining 55 minutes.

Seth quickly took the team up to 2nd behind leader KCH2, closing rapidly to within 8 seconds before another cruel blackflag penalty was imposed for allegedly overtaking under yellows. Coming back out in 3rd, Seth put the hammer down and took back second with just 5 minutes remaining. Despite then gaining over a second a lap on the leader (who'd had no stops or penalties all race long), it was too late, and a dejected Seth had to settle for second.

"That second blackflag cost us the race and it was really unfair" said Seth. "A back marker spun off in front of me when he saw a yellow, and though I did pass him he was going backwards at the time. What was I supposed to do?". Still, P2 was a reasonable end result and the race was really just a bit of fun before the winter weather sets in and ruins karting for a few months.

One more race to go in the Sprint Championship: Rye House in 3 weeks time.
