IMSD Racing scored only their third top 10 finish of the season in the penultimate round of the Premier championship at Bayford Meadows on 13 October. Eddie, Stephen and Ian all performed faultlessly but a succession of unusable karts in practice, and practically no running time for the drivers, contributed to a disappointing qualifying position, 18th, though this was a creditable performance by Eddie given cold tyres and lack of track time. "We had the pace today to finish in the top 6 or 7, but starting from near the back and botching our final pitstop cost us valuable places overall, so tenth wasn't a bad result" said Stephen. All three drivers had trouble-free stints and were on the pace of the front-runners, and as the team entered the last 20 minutes 8th or 9th place was looking secure. However a poor final pit-stop cost an extra 15 seconds and rivals Wolfie were able to close up and then steal a place over the final few laps. The team nevertheless finished ahead of all their usual rivals - Bin it, RBB, Jenny Tools, Red Mist, and Clubman winners HB Racing, who finished 11th. A strong result at the final round at Rye House could move the team up to 12th in the final championship standings, the same position they achieved last year. The will be the team's last race in the Premier Endurance championship and the drivers are determined to go out on a high. |
