Another tough race
After a slightly improved performance at Buckmore last month and with high hopes of a repeat at Clay, it was back to earth with a bump as the team limped home a disappointing 19th after more kart problems throughout the day.

The day started out fairly smoothly. Eddie went out first in practice to get the kart sorted and brought it in after a few laps to get the mixture adjusted. The test driver took it out and made a few tweaks and handed the kart back for Ian Miller to have his run. Unfortunately the mixture seemed to have been adjusted too much and, although the kart had fantastic top end, it had no bottom end. This was a problem that unfortunately went unnoticed until Eddie started the race.

Ian Wilson went out last in practice and, for the first time since France, qualified. However, despite two runs he could manage no better than a lowly 27th out of the 30 kart field.

Eddie started the race and immediately knew there was a problem. He struggled to make much of an impression during the opening stint until the fuel level dropped and the kart seemed to pick up the pace.

Ian Wilson took over and it was the same story as he struggled for pace until the fuel level dropped.

Sadly the team never really figured in the race and struggled around 15th and 16th place for most of the morning. The performance problem was compounded after Eddie damaged the handling with some over-aggressive use of the kerbs.

Ian Miller had asked to do the last stint of the day so he could take the chequered flag for his last outing in the team that carries his name. Sadly the result put a damper on significance of the occasion, but Ian nevertheless crossed the line for an emotional final time – albeit down in 19th place.
