The team finished a creditable 11th after starting way down in 28th at Rye House today. More importantly, they finished ahead of all of their key rivals, II2BI, HB Racing and RBB.
Ian Miller took the opening stint and made good ground in the opening laps as many of the karts in front came in for early stops. However, due to the unusually high number of laps completed in qualifying, Ian was brought in after only 11 minutes, which meant that the team had to work hard on strategy to stretch the rest of the stints without making a splash and dash.
Ian Wilson took over for the second stint and, continuing his lightening form from Shenington, made up good ground to establish the team well up in the mid field.
Eddie, as the only member of the team running lead, went out last to minimise the number of weight changeovers. Continuing to make impressive progress up the field, he put in his usual run of consistently fast laps.
The running order was the same for the second half on the race. Ian Miller enjoyed a dice with front-runners, Steel London, for most of his stint and Ian, running for a long time in clear air, again made up lots of ground.
Eddie took the final stint with 20 minutes remaining and made huge ground. Despite losing several seconds over the last few laps as the fuel started to run out, he nevertheless crossed the line in 11th with a comfortable cushion over the next place kart. |
