Seth tests at Lydd in preparation for championship showdown
It’s going to be an exciting finale to the championship so Seth has been busy preparing himself for the last four races of the year. In the huge shunt he had at Clay Pigeon the chassis of his kart was quite severely twisted. It was then repaired by his specialist engineer, who also developed a new aero package (see Photo Gallery) for the kart, but Seth was still anxious to test the new setup before the next race at Clay on 3rd September . The ideal place to test the changes was at Lydd Raceway.

It was a fine morning when the IMSD team arrived at Lydd, but they were eager to get Seth out on to the track because of the bad weather report that they had received on the lap-top. Despite the bright sun there were huge puddles dotted in inconvenient places all over the track. This meant that for the first hour driving was made very difficult. Seth was “very pleased with the newly straightened chassis” but the IMSD team decided to experiment with the width of the kart as he was still complaining about unusual amounts of over-steer (lack of back end grip.) After a few hours he found a set-up that he was really pleased with so the team moved on to testing different tyres, to find a good set for him to use at Clay. Judging by the lap times, the best set are very good indeed…

Seth has now halted his training to spend time with his family in their farmhouse in the countryside. But Seth will be attending the Club100 IMSD race at Buckmore Park this weekend in order to give strategic advice to his team mates.

He is very grateful for the people that are helping to support this site – especially Eddie Hall of DataPartners and IMSD Racing – and is pleased that his competitors are accessing it regularly. He is encouraged by the growing support for the Junior Royale class in F6, and has made a plea for more drivers (especially in their last season of Cadet, or currently in Junior Pro-Kart racing) “to seriously consider racing in Junior Royale next year, one of the most competitive and economical of all the junior classes available”. He adds that “despite being only a fraction slower than Junior TKM 4-stroke or Minimax, it is a MUCH cheaper alternative.”
